Forum OpenACS Development: Agenda item for 15/12/04: OCT should define road maps

I would like to add an agenda item for tomorrow's OCT meeting. The item is to discuss a proposal that the OCT should be required to define at least one OpenACS roadmap during for each term.

Actually, not quite sure how to describe this, but a road map should be defined for each election cycle. Basically, every six months. Whatever.

You know what I mean.

I'd like to raise the issue of a roadmap once more for tomorrow's OCT meeting (which I'm not sure I'll be able to make because I may be flying from the west to the east coast, but that shouldn't hold you guys from talking about it.)

Some roadmaps I suggest you look at to get a sense of what I would like to see the community have are:

http://openlaszlo.org/development/roadmap/
http://www.mozilla.org/roadmap.html
http://docs.jboss.org/roadmap/JBossRoadmap.pdf

These are three roadmaps chosen sort of at random, but they do have similarities. Namely, they don't necessarily have strict dates, but do define priorities and goals.

IMO, this is something that has been missing in the OpenACS since its inception.
