Does this mean that Search will work for Oracle some time in the future?
Or am I stuck with SWS?

Unfortunately, for now you're stuck with SWS.  Despite best intentions, the one volunteer who'd started looking into moving Oracle searching to the new service contract-based search package didn't have time to really make much progress.

I think it's very important that we tackle this for our follow-on version which I hope we can release over the summer.

If you're running 3.2.5, I have an htDig search package that you can use instead of SWS.  It's in the SDM at www.theashergroup.com.
