Anybody has implemented the search in the forums with OpenFTS?

Any help about how to do this?

Thanks.

We are planning on implementing this soon (this week) for forums to use on the new openacs.org.

OpenFTS can only be used currently to search all indexed content. There is no way to restrict by package. So we are using OpenFTS only for the site-wide search feature. The forums-only search is implemented differently.

About a month ago, I asked about package specific searches using openFTS, Neophytos responded:
"I started working on that but I suspended it when we were suppose to have our first release (Feb. 2002). I hope the code lies somewhere in my computer but I'll have check. Among other things I was going to implement object-type-specific, mime-specific, and package-specific searches. I'll check and see how far I got that time."

If this code can be gotten ahold of, I think it might be useful to finish the implementation. Then we wouldn't have so many different implementations of search just to run one site.

I have OpenFTS indexing forums over at http://dev.openacs.org.

Use the site search box in the header to try it out.

It currently indexes every message from enabled forums.

I am out of town, I will submit patches to be added to the forums package early next week.

Hi, again:

Somebody has implemented the search with OpenFTS and the bboard package (not forums) for the OACS 4.5?

Thanks.
