Forum OpenACS Q&A: Table SEC_BROWSER_PROPERTIES so large

Collapse

Hello,

I'm using ACS3.2, aolserver3.3ad13, Oracle8.1.6, Linux 2.1.16

the table SEC_BROWSER_PROPERTIES has become very very large (125 Mo).
The segment SYS_LOB0000004925C00004$$ has the same size.

And it has only 1,102,287 lines.

Why is this object so big and is it dangerous to delete some lines of it ?

Thanx

It looks like the use of this table was removed in an upgrade from 4.0 to 4.0.1. And the security design doc explains the reason.

I have had trouble with sec_sessions and sec_session_properties for the same reason. I have truncated these tables in the past without any serious consequences, but I can't guarantee that this is the case for you. Another problem with this series of tables is that the indexes are even larger than the tables themselves.

Thanx.

I may migrate to OpenACS 4.6, as soon as I find where to download aolserver33ad13+oacs1

Take a look at https://openacs.org/software/. AOLserver 3.3ad13 is available for download there.
