Forum OpenACS Q&A: Dumb 3.2.5 admin question

I'm trying to play with the events module and I can't quite seem to
get it working properly. I created a user group within the "Event"
category at /admin/ug/. I added myself as an admin to that group.
I would have thought that from there I could go to /events/admin/
and set something up, but the system is telling me that I'm not
authorized.

What am I missing?

Hi Michael, when I read your posting I started to see whats going on,
because I have another Openacs system where we use a lot the events
module (a previus version), the thing is that in /pvt/home.tcl is
commeted out the part of group membership:
find it with emacs, the word member
uncomment it, the you'll see there the group you belong, and form
there you'll have access to the events module,
I guess this will help!

Michael, I was wrong, I forgot that what you need to do is to:
go to /admin/ug
then go to administration group and then to the events sub-group, then add the user that you want like administrator, and that's it!

What it really does, is create a group for each event that you create, so you can asociate faqs, calendar, etc. to that, but the admin stuff for the events module is a subgroup in the admin group.

Thanks Rocael.

So, apparently you can set yourself as an admin in the event UG
itself, *and* you can be a site-wide admin, and still it has no
effect. After setting up the event (with yourself as admin) you then
have to go to the "administration" UG and add yourself.

Did they *try* to make this interface counter-intuitive? Or was it
just their innate talent for it asserting itself?
