Forum OpenACS Q&A: Should we make acs-mail-lite part of initial-install?

Advantage: We can count on acs-mail-lite to send mail reliably from, say, the registration pages, or any other part of core.

Disadvantage: Bloat of core.

Any opinion? Personally, I don't mind the bloat, in return for reliable mail sending where I don't have to do error handling myself all the time.

I'd love to rather see the acs-mail-lite functionality merged into acs-mail and make the latter a well documented and reliable one-stop package for sending mail, as discussed here before. This would be quite some work though.

I agree, Lars. Why don't you post a TIP on this?
