Forum OpenACS Improvement Proposals (TIPs): Tip #17 (Approved): Nomination procedure for OCT election

As per Detailed Election Proposal:
  • The nominating pool consists of the current OCT, CVS committers, and anybody who posted in the forums at least twice between 25 May and 25 Aug 2003 (177 people). Each person can nominate up to three candidates for the next OCT election. Duplicate nominations will count against the limit. Nominated people must themselves be in the nominating pool. Nominations do not require seconds.
  • Nominators will nominate candidates by posting their names in a new forum created for this purpose. Unqualified posts (nominations by non-nominators, fourth nominations, comments) will be blocked or deleted as is convenient.
  • Candidates who do not wish to serve will have an opportunity to remove their names from the ballot before the election. These nominations will still count against the limit of three nominations.
  • Nominations cannot be withdrawn.
  • Nominations will last for one week after the approval of this TIP.
  • There are no limits on the number of people who can be nominated from one organization. (I'm punting this issue to the next TIP, on the election itself.)

Because we are running late - even if this TIP is approved immediately, we are pushing the election past the original 25 Sep date - I ask all OCT members to approve or abstain, so that we don't have to wait a week to see if any OCT member vetoes.
