Forum OpenACS Q&A: Old versions of ACS

Hello,
I have to work in a site developed in ACS 3.3. Is there any place from where I can download such an old version of ACS?
Otherwise is there any guide how I can transfer the content to
the current version of OpenACS?

Thanks for help

Old Versions: Sussdorff-Roy has downloads of ACES which is basically ACS3.5. Not sure where to get ACS3.3.

Sloan migrated from ACES to OpenACS4x/dotLRN
OpenACS.org migrated from OpenACS3x to OpenACS4x.

Dave is uploading his scripts and I will try to contact Tracy at Sloan to upload hers.  I'll also ask Sussdorff-Roy if they have any from thier upgrade of AISEC.

Since you are working on ACS3.3 and may want to migrate directly to OpenACS5 they won't work out of the box for you, but they should give you a significant headstart.

Anyone who has a migration script to contribute please upload it to this folder:

Good luck and the latest OpenACS is definitely worth it!

The upgrade to ACS 3.5 will be a little bit of work, so make sure you devote some time to it.

I'm on Oracle ACS 3.4.10 here, and I'm in the process of upgrading to Postgres OpenACS 5.0. It funny, a lot of people seem to have come out of the wordwork recently, and are working on this.

It's not an easy thing to do. But a lot of it depends on the packages that you're using.

How committed to doing this are you? It's a lot of work, although being on a live code base will be a big improvement, and getting rid of the Oracle license fees may pay for it if you switch to Postgres at the same time.

Is there any information available about how Sloan upgraded to OpenACS? If they had upgrade scripts and so on, I would kill to see them.

I have a page up on the admittedly crude way I'm doing it. If I could go back and do it again, I would do it *completely* differently. Oh well, it should work: http://rubick.com:8002/openacs/acs_to_openacs

So did the old aD ACS CVS repository ever get preserved anywhere? Perhaps the Red Hat folks have it? Other than historical interest, it could be useful to people like this with sites which forked from very old versions of ACS...
