That is a *massive* mistake if someone closed the thread, particularly without asking anyone.

Further, I posit that is beyond the scope of the OCT. The OCT is a technical committee, not an oversight committee. It's responsibility is to make sure that the software works, not how the community should communicate.

Since the right decision was made, I'm not interested in knowing whodid it or why it was done. But in the future, I'm asking that a few considerations be made:

  • All discussions be transparent, especially within the OCT. This is an elected body. The elected body is responsible to the community. If someone does something boneheaded like close a thread according to their whims, they need to be able to stand up and declare why they did so in front of the people who elected them.
  • The OCT stick with technical issues. You are not moderators.
