Forum OpenACS Q&A: Problem uncompressing OASIS VM

Collapse
Posted by Marc Feuerstein on
Hello,
Recently, a friend told me about the VMWare distribution of OpenACS and I decided to give it a go.

I downloaded the Oacs-4.5b.zip file. When I try to unzip it, I get a "corrupted file - unexpected EOF" error. I see the whole list of files in the WinZip program, but I just can't seem to uncompress it. I tried with WinRAR, but I have the same problem.

The issue seems to be with the "Linux .vmdk" file (with a space before the dot), but I'm not sure.

Did I do something wrong ? What is the best URL to download the OASIS VM ?

As I'm a newbie at that, please excuse me if the question has been asked before...

Thanks,

Marc.

Marc,

I just downloaded Oacs-4.5b.zip (177Meg). unzip (freeBSD 4.8) results in a similar error: bad zipfile offset (local header sig): 186428236

Maybe the recent solar flare contributed to the file? =)

The Oasis-4.5c.zip (177M) is a few kb larger, and took me longer to download (circa 33kb/s), but unzip worked with 0 errors.

I don't use vmware etc, but hope this helps.

Torben

I have never tried these particular files, but winzip does have issues with spaces in funny places (like the end of a file name).

Maybe try a different unzip tool.
