ACS 4.0 Alpha 2 has just been released and is available for <a
href="
http://www.arsdigita.com/download/download-input?scope=public&version_id=1301&pseudo_filename=acs%2d4%2e0a2%2etar%2egz">download</a>.

From the release notes:

The Alpha 2 release features a functionally-complete bboard, a
simplified request processor and subsites implementation, and more
complete documentation. In addition, all core functionality has been
code reviewed by two reviewers independent from the
implementation. Patches submitted via the SDM for 4.0 Alpha have also
been merged in to the main source tree in Alpha 2. All issues listed
in the 4.0 Alpha release notes Known Issues section have been
addressed.
