FYI we are working (E-LANE) on several tools for .LRN & openacs in general, here's brief:
1. Evaluation / Gradding system
2. IMS Enterprise 1.1 Spec
3. SMS gateway (posts to webpages of mobile companies, that's the way it works in our countries)
4. Notifications in serveral objects (Calendars, FAQ, News, etc.)
5. New portlets for .LRN (more later)
We expect to have 1&2 in this month (march), and 3-5 during april.
Also, there's in an effort for assessment in coordination with Heilderberg, specially on the IMS integration.
The next thing that will come after is user tracking for .LRN (we'll post more about this when the time comes).
IMS Enterprise 1.1 Spec will allow .LRN to import automatically classes, users, departments, mapping users to classes, etc. So in this way .LRN will be able to integrate easily to any other university administrative system.
The first stage will allow us one way communication: AdminSystem --> .LRN, the next stage of development should allow both ways communication, our plan is to develop both stages.
Finally, there's an urgent need to a kind of wiki or tutorial for new user to .LRN, that also means a review in the GUI for new users, we expect also to dedicate efforts on that side in the next months after we finish our main development efforts (1-3).
