Forum OpenACS Q&A: best way to restart services?

hi all,

(disclosure: i'm a relative newbie to linux)

in the documentation, it mentions that a line should be added to the
/etc/inittab file to start aolserver.  however, in linuxconf,
aolserver also appears as a service that is supposed to run at
startup.  is it correct to have it in both places?

and what about postgresql.  right now, it also appears as a service
in linuxconf.  should i also add a similar line to my /etc/inittab?

thanks.

mkm

It looks like you are running the mod_aolserver/OpenACS RPMs? If so, the OpenACS documentation knows nothing about them. The RPMs and mod_aolserver have their documentation, which take precedence over the Installation Guide for regular OpenACS.

Use one or the other, not both. Looks like you already have it set up, leave /etc/inittab alone.
