Forum OpenACS Development: Re: .LRN user interface design

Three thoughts:
- It would be nice if one could change the look and feel from a single file
- the context bar should be available though not necessarily on the My Space view
- table views and not lists for more than 1 item in the announcements, forum lists and faqs portlets are better since they don't need much as much space

Greetings,
Nima

Nima, it's a small point, but there is no reason a list needs to take up more room than a table and it's list data so presenting it as a list provides the flexibility to display it with or without indents and with or without standard or custom bullets. It's a mistake to make it a table just for presentational issues.

It would be good if we had clear CSS names for the colors like  "table_header_background" and so on, which we could change in *one* (as Nima pointed out) CSS file for the whole site (and all packages with it). Subsites and subsite types could overwrite these site wide defaults with their own CSS file. Furthermore, it should be possible to upload the CSS file for the user e.g. from the subsite parameter page (thereby not only saying: use this css file, but also allow the user to upload one for use).

I know most of the stuff above has nothing to do directly with the Design, which is due to the fact that I really like it, but hope you implement it technically in a consistent was that allows easy changes for the person installing and using .LRN.
