Forum .LRN Q&A: ANN: IMS Enterprise v.1.1 Specification available

Hello All!
IMS Enterprise v.1.1 Specification is available at HEAD for anyone to use it. Has been tested with oacs-5-1 & 5.0 as well.

Feeding ims-ent with the proper xml document you will be able in .LRN to:
* create / edit classes, departments, subjets (and how they relate among them)
* create users
* create the relationships between users and classes (professors, TA's, students that belong to a given class)
All of this automatically just by feeding the document by rpc, file-system or http get.

The plan is that for oacs-5-2 will completely substitute the IMS driver that is inside acs-authentication, right it just replaces it in an standalone package (ims-ent).

Have a look on the documenation (http://cvs.openacs.org/cvs/*checkout*/openacs-4/packages/ims-ent/www/doc/ims-ent.html) for further information.

Questions & testing is very welcomed!

Hi Rocael,

This seems very nice indeed.

I am curious if  it is, or will be, possible to export these things into XML format as well?

Thanks.

Ola,

well, should not be that hard to do that, but right now just the import is supported..

Even better, a 2 way communication is what we are looking for, and is in someway designed at the IMS Enterprise Services specification, something that Galileo plans to address in the future.
