Forum OpenACS Q&A: Starting Project/Open PostgreSQL Port

Hi,

we finally got the preconditions together to start the PostgreSQL port of Project/Open the 1st of September (2004!). Does somebody want to participate? We are obviously looking for people who whould like to participate in the development effort (porting a small module?), but we would also need beta-testers and good advice. Just answer to this post and I'll include you in the mailing list.

The final goal of this port is a dead-simple Windows distribution to allow "IT unsophisticated users" to try and run OpenACS P/O in their companies. The native Win32 version of PostgreSQL 8.0 is out, so that this should now be possible...

Bests,
Frank

Before someone asks: I'm obviously only asking for help with the GPLed packages (the entire base system is GPLed). It's obvious that we'll have to port the "Free License" packages ourselves...

sounds great. I'll setup an access to our CVS server ASAP. The Project/Open "Core" module (containing about 50% of all P/O code) is already ported and working, so that you should be able to get some first results quickly.

How would you like to participate? We could assign you a small package for porting if you want.

Bests,
Frank
