Forum OpenACS Q&A: Postcard 1.0 released

I've updated postcard to work with OpenACS 5.

It is pretty nice and simple, but it will not be available via the package repository, because the CVS is in /contrib/obsolete-packages

It is no longer obsolete, but it is still in that directory.

I think it works quite well, although it does not take advantage of the content repository.

I'm a little leary of moving stuff directly in the CVS repository. Does anybody else have experience with this? We could move all the stuff from contrib and the obsolete packages back. I'm marking their .info files if they are obsolete, and we no longer have a need for packages to be separated into contrib. I believe there was a TIP about this?

Not sure about obsolete packages, but for contrib I think it would make a lot of sense to put them into /packages with a maturity of 0 or 1 (if I remember the levels correctly).

If you could do this it would be awesome!

Please everyone refer to the various discussions of manually manipulating the cvs directory. Two I remember are:

https://openacs.org/forums/message-view?message_id=133113

It's a pity that cvs has such a major limitation. At my current client I have been using IBM Rational ClearCase for source control. It has it's own quirks, but being able to move files and trees around at will has made me realise how rigid cvs can make us.
