Forum OpenACS Q&A: Call for porters to come to IRC

Dear Porters (and community in general),

It would be nice if you would log onto #openacs on
irc.openprojects.net. That way you can help others when they are stuck
in a query and it's usually something that'd be very very easy and
quick for another to answer. Getting stuck is frustrating, but with
your guru-powers present in the channel, things would be faster
😊

I've helped some porters in those conditions in the channel, and
even
fixed a couple bugs. It's also been very nice to get in touch 'live'
with the community and hear their thoughts, and discuss things.

Log onto the channel, you can always lurk if you're busy with
something else
:)

The cool thing is IRC, log on and see 😊

P.S: If you don't have an IRC client, I recommend epic4 with the Light
script. it's command-line based and very very nice. I run my console
stuff using 'screen' so I can always be logged on to the channel and
read the discussions that went on when I am away.

Not being a current IRC user, can you tell me where the client can be found?

An RPM (from the Red Hat Powertools 7.1 CD) can be found here: ftp://speakeasy.rpmfind.net/linux/redhat/7.1/en/powertools/i386/RedHat/RPMS//epic-4_2000-6.i386.rpm

The Light script for epic4 can be found here: ftp://light.canuck.gen.nz/pub/Light/. The Light script adds colors and some other nice things to epic4.

For the Debian users:

apt-get install epic4 epic4-script-light
