OpenACS developers are an often searched scarce good. We are looking currently as well for two of this species. The shortage is has to do partly with the fact that many new developers are trained in the Java mono-culture, and the few, which escape from that have many choices for development, from C to scripting languages....

An option you might consider is to team up with one of the OpenACS companies http://www.openacs.org/community/companies/

The community should take a cue from the good old aD days and set up bootcamps complete with problem sets 😉 Looking back, that's probably how I escape what Gustaf calls the monoculture.
