Forum OpenACS Q&A: changing host and ip?

Collapse

Hi there!

We cloned our dotlrn-server, because we want the exact same system for testing. So far, so good.
Now I need to change the hostname and ip of the clone, but I don't know which files I have to correct.

Hostname and IP can be changed in the AOLserver control file of your installation. Usually you can find this at /var/lib/aolserver/< yourservername>/etc/config.tcl. Alternatively some people use a different convention, so you can find your AOLservers control file at /web/< yourservername>/etc/< yourservername>.tcl.

You also need to change the kernel parameter "SystemURL"
(The param edit page can be gotten to via /admin/site-map/)

You may also need to change the "prebinding" done when
the server starts which is the -b flag to the nsd command.
