Is anyone working on adopting S5 to work in OpenACS, replacing WP?

Hm, I hadn't heard of S5. I particularly like the ability to toggle the display between slide/presentation and single-document mode.

I am somewhat suspicious of the javascript dependent implementation however; it seems to mostly work but gives a few wonky behaviors in Mozilla 1.7.5.

A single-file standard data format for an entire slide presentation is also a very good thing, but on cursory inspection, the markup looks fairly complicated. Doing the whole thing in Emacs is probably doable, but most people aren't going to want that. Some sort of simple UI like WimpyPoint is probably very necessary.

Andrew,

you don't have to make S5 presentations by hand. Take a look at http://s5presents.com/ for a RoR implementation of S5. I used this site for my slides as presented at the Boston OpenACS meeting.

I'm sure that OpenACS can do a better job, not because of the technology but because of the quality of its developers. S5presents has to following issues:

* New slides are not added at the end of the list.

* Markup (either markdown or HTML) is not parsed correctly. Experiment and you'll see.

The end result however out shines Wimpy Point.

A time ago i went to some kind of integration with s5 minimal structure (http://www.meyerweb.com/eric/tools/s5/structure-min.html) implementation within wp-slim package. I have one example here: http://ww2.creditofundiario.org.br/slides/presentation-s5-view?item_id=25432

But it was a poor implementation and did not work with IE (mozilla-firefox works well) so i did not go so far.
