I am working with some folks and they are having a consistent error where naviserver crashes upon startup on multiple different Mac OS X machines.
It crashes after starting nssock like so:
[14/Jan/2016:12:43:43][83172.7fff7ddd2000][-main-] Notice: driver: starting: nssock
[14/Jan/2016:12:43:43][83172.7000005a6000][-conn:hub:0-] Fatal: received fatal signal 11
They were all installed with install-ns.sh using the same settings.
On my Macbook everything works fine.
We have tried to compare the versions and there isn't much to go on to debug this.
I tried comparing the versions of the libraries nsd was linked to.
On a working installation:
otool -L /usr/local/ns/bin/nsd
/usr/local/ns/bin/nsd:
/usr/local/ns/lib/libnsd.dylib (compatibility version 0.0.0, current version 0.0.0)
/usr/lib/libz.1.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1.2.5)
/usr/local/ns/lib/libnsthread.dylib (compatibility version 0.0.0, current version 0.0.0)
/usr/local/ns/lib/libtcl8.5.dylib (compatibility version 8.5.0, current version 8.5.18)
/usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1197.1.1)
On one non-working installation:
otool -L /usr/local/ns/bin/nsd
/usr/local/ns/bin/nsd:
/usr/local/ns/lib/libnsd.dylib (compatibility version 0.0.0, current version 0.0.0)
/usr/lib/libz.1.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1.2.5)
/usr/local/ns/lib/libnsthread.dylib (compatibility version 0.0.0, current version 0.0.0)
Any advice on how to debug this further would be greatly appreciated.
