Forum OpenACS Development: 4.6 release - timeline

The suggested timeline for the 4.6 release goes like this:

Code freeze on September 15th

Beta release on October 1st

Final release on October 15th

These dates are out a bit farther than was originally planned, but
we've all lost a bit of time with the whole governance flap and the
transition from Neophytos to me.

So, do these dates sound reasonable, especially to those who are being
asked to meet them? Any discussion, please post here.

That sounds reasonable!

From a testing perspective what is being planned? i.e. are you looking for a test phase for both the beta and the final release, or are you seeing the final release as beta + testing + fixes from testing?

If the latter then you'll have to leave more time between beta and final I think. Past experience has taught me that getting testing done is difficult (lack of testers/facilities). If not we should be OK..

Let me know, and when decided I can post up for testing volunteers.

Cheers

I think we should decide at the time we release the beta. If bugs are being found fast and furious then we should probably have more of a test cycle, pushing out the date for the final release, but if things are looking pretty clean then I think we can do without.

Sound ok?
