Forum OpenACS Q&A: Red Hat Database 2.1

Has anyone tried Red Hat Database 2.1?  I gave 2.0 a try in early December, it installed quickly on RH 7.3 and I had no problems running it with openACS 4.5.  The file locations were different, so some notes in "Install PostgreSQL 7.2.3" https://openacs.org/doc/openacs-4/postgres.html would need to be updated.

RH came out with Red Hat Database 2.1 on December 10, the major improvement is support for Red Hat Linux 8.0.  It looks like the beta Visual Explain 2.0 could be useful.

If your client requires that you use Red Hat linux, this could be a nice alternative to standard PostgreSQL, as they have worked to make it integrate cleanly with their environment.

My impression is that RHDB 2.1 (PG 7.2.3-RH) should compile anywhere PG itself does.  I built it on mandrake 8.0, for example.
