This may just be my mail program, but all the links in batched Forum postings look like this:

The link on my browser includes the =====, so when I click on it, it doesn't work. I have to edit out the === every time.

Could we just replace it with a blank line?

Sorry for the whining. I posted the bug and proposed fix on the Bugtracker. Perhaps that's the best way to do it?

Jade, just what pathetically broken email reader are you using anyway?

I don't see any problem with the "====" separator, although if we really do want to change it, using whatever other common mailing list software uses in it's digest mode emails would be the way to go.

Whatever SourceForge uses seems to do this:

The PostgreSQL hackers list digest MIME multipart/digest format, with each post as a separate messge/rfc822 attachment. That seems to work well in my Mutt mail reader, but is certainly more complicated.

Jade, I just looked at your bug report. Simply adding newlines is certainly trivial, sorry to waste time with the above. Doesn't openacs.org already use that format, though?

Openacs.org doesn't seem to. It does for normal messages, but if they're batched (daily is what I'm on), then my links look like this:

Yes, it is really a bug in Mail.app, but a lot of people use Mail.app, I believe. It's not perfect, but it is a pretty good email program.

Oh, my mistake. It's the openacs.org Bug Tracker batched emails that already have the newline between the http link and the === separator. The Forums batched emails do not.
