Great to see the interest. Now we just need to make a decision on which path to pursue, and who does what by when.
Just a clarification on one little point:
Lars: - Provide a tar-ball which includes the whole service tree, including run scripts, AOLserver config file, etc.
Joel: All of this is already in HEAD, if not 4.6.3.

One difference, though: Currently you have to copy the files from .../packages/acs-core-docs/files/... to where they need to go.
What I figured was that you'd get a tarball, which is rooted one level up from normally, and which contains everything, like this:
service0/etc/run
service0/packages/...
service0/...
Everything already in their desired place and in the desired layout. No copying around of files.
Of course, if that distribution tar-ball would also include PG and AOLserver, or whatever else is needed to make it even easier to install, so much the better.
