I just realized that my grep doesn't recognize words that have German characters in it...

But whenever I let grep search for the first n-letters that don't contain special characters of a word with special characters, grep displays every German character as a "?"

My /etc/sysconfig/i18n says the following:

LANG="de_DE.UTF-8"
SUPPORTED="en_US.UTF-8:en_US:en:de_DE.UTF-8:de_DE:de"
SYSFONT="latarcyrheb-sun16"

I am running RH 8.0...

Any hints?
