if it's the 'instant gratification' you're after why not just skip the documentation-bit and go directly for the 'out-of-the-box' experience?
opengroupware does this for instance [1] by providing bootable CDs of a preconfigured installation based on Knoppix [2]
in case you haven't heard of knoppix, it's truly amazing: a bootable linux on CD with really good automatic hardware detection, i've used it dozens of times at clients and they were all amazed that linux would run 'just like that' on THEIR computers...
