Drop lars blogger entirely. Use XoWIKI Form Builder with the news form.
This is what we did and it gives you all the options of XoWIKI without having to modify lars blogger. Lars Blogger in my opinion is a dead end at the moment and we have written upgrade scripts that moves it's entries into XoWIKI.
