just readin some of the docs on the collaboraid site, as well as some papers by R. Calvo, it seems that portlets are never showed within architecture diagrams for the dotlrn architecture , they are usually defined as the interface for the applet package , i understand all of that
but what i dont understand is what do we call the applet packages that function on their own without a-portlet package
i.e. dotlrn-homeowrk applet is a single package that provides a portlet in the community portal , although when reading the docs it seems that they exaplin it as if a portlet is only viewable after the -portlet package is made and should be made with this .
so do we label this as a portlet package or a applet package ? as both ways it seems as if we are contradicting the docs.
im just trying to get the exact wording here as im writing a thesis and want to make sure i do not misinterpret anything.
