Forum OpenACS Q&A: Resetup of old OpenACS instance

Hi all,

I have been given the unenviable task of bringing back to life an old OpenACS implementation so that we can retrieve some information from the database / system. I have an old email that states the following:-

>Here is the version informations to run your package:
>Application Version
>OpenACS 3.2.5
>AOLserver 3.3
>TCL 8.4 (thread enabled)
>PostgreSQL 7.2.4

My first problem is that I cannot find OpenACS 3.2.5 on this server, which brings me to my first question, do I really need 3.2.5? By the way, I have a tar'd of the source for our old website, as well as a dump of the postgresql database. Any help is much appreciated.

My second problem is, I was planning to resetup the above on a RH Linux 7.3 box, or does this not matter in this instance?

What information do you want to retrieve? I'm just guessing, absent specific details, but if it were me I'd look into just dumping the information you need from the database in CSV format using postgres tools. Then massage the data when you import it into your new system.
