I executed the drop.sql manually and deleted all the view, tables, functions from the database. Also I had to go through cr_folder_type_map and delete all the entries there. Now the installation worked out.
I created an instance but now i get lots of MESSAGE KEY MISSING's on the website.
Any idea why this happens? I looked inside the catalog folder and there are at least two xml files for english and spanish.
