Perhaps we can have a better process for deciding how things are obsoleted, etc.

Debian seems to be a good model in this regard. A person can say they're not going to support something any more, and then it's put on a list of packages that other people can step in and take on.

I do think we shouldn't have an address book in the distribution unless it works, though.
