Forum OpenACS Q&A: Response to What *should* a good architecture Look Like?

Thanks, Michael.  It looks like there's going to be a 3.3, rather than  nothing until 4.0.  The beginnings of the package manager will be included in this.  We'll have to take a look to see whether it's worth  the effort to incorporate this, or whether perhaps we should simply wait for 4.0.  4.0 will include a total revamping of the directory layout of the ACS (by package, rather than functionality) so our semi-automated approach of using diff and patch isn't going to help much.

4.0 will be a big effort, we may be better off trying to solidify 3.2.2 as much as possible and do what we can to set aside a fairly large chunk of time to port 4.0 over.

Then again, 3.3 may be a simple upgrade.  We'll just have to see.
