Forum OpenACS Q&A: OpenFTS, tsearch, postgresql 7.4, and aolserver 4.0

Has anyone built OpenFTS 0.3.2 and tsearch against postgresql 7.4 and aolserver 4.0?

I have migrated my web site to postgresql 7.4, and I forgot about OpenFTS. I haven't been able to get it working yet.

We haven't tried yet.

But related to this, I have seen there is a new version of OpenFTS, 0.3.5, from a week ago, but in the original Perl version.

The new TSearch2 and the new OpenFTS 0.3.5 looks very promising.

1. There are plans to make a tcl version soon?.

We are playing with htdig, swish-e and swish++ and frankly they left many space to improve.

2. Someone has playing with OpenFTS 0.3.5 and TSearch2 to replace the classical search engines?

Hi
Going back to Dave's question.

Rafael

Yes, and it works, even if I had some problem with non US characters.

Try tsearch2-driver from HEAD. It needs a little work, but I am running it on my web site and a couple of client web sites .

I will be working on it to release an OpenACS 5.1 compatible version soon. It should install fine on an existing openacs 5.1 site.

tsearch2 includes the OpenFTS parser so you don't need the seperate Tcl or Perl parser.
