Hi,
I wonder if it is possible to load extensions into AOL's tcl
interpreter just as one would in a normal tclsh. (I do not know how
much of the core is modified.
If not, can a modified tcl source be used that normally builds a
static tclsh with the extension functionalities built in be used?

You might get more informed answers if you ask your question in the Tcl scripting forum found at aolserver.com.  Go to the "community" section, register and visit the forums.  They're running OpenACS forums just like openacs.org, so the user interface will look familiar.

Answers are usually slow to come, but the AOLserver team will eventually give you one.
