Forum OpenACS Development: AOL Server in Ubuntu

Hi,

I'm new to AOL Server and TCL and am trying to install version 4.5.0 on Ubuntu version 8.04 (I have TCL 8.5.2 installed). I am also very new to linux so I'm not that familiar with building applications, but I was able to build TCL and a few other libraries. I have followed multiple lengthy installation guides trying to get AOL Server to install, but have not been able to get it to work. Is there anyone that has had success with installing AOL Server on Ubuntu that could give me some advice?

Thanks

AOLserver 4.5 is available in Ubuntu. You can install it with apt-get install aolserver4 aolserver4-nscache aolserver4-nspostgres aolserver4-nssha1

You can use the standard Tcl installed with Ubuntu also.

Here is the rest of the debian packages install doc
https://openacs.org/xowiki/openacs-system-install-debian
which should eventually be available directly from the ubuntu repository.
