I've started a new discussion forum dedicated to issues of
OpenACS 4.0 porting. This forum will be active for the duration of
the initial 4.0 porting effort for design purposes.
You should feel free to lurk on this discussion forum no matter
what your level of expertise. I would also like to encourage
participation in these forums, with the understanding that this is
not a blue-sky discussion of possible features, but rather a
discussion of porting strategy given the experienced gained in
3.x, and the released ACS Classic 4.0. We will be discussing
mostly (1) port of data model, kernel, and core (2) general
strategies for porting further modules (3) discussion of how to
make the core Postgres-friendly while maintaining maximal
backwards compatibility with ACS/Classic.
I will be posting a number of starter questions ASAP, including a
timeline, main issues, etc... 4.0 is going full speed starting today,
so get psyched!
