Forum OpenACS Q&A: Slow Database after Power Supply Crash

Does anyone have experience with his database getting slower after a
crash of the power supply?

Hey, be thankful - my computer doesn't run at all without a power supply :)

OK, I'm teasing ... this seems strange, to me.  Did you have to rebuild the database or did you just repair the machine and go off an running just fine?

Actually we just restarted the machine and then had to remove a file from the /temp directory in order to restart the database. But somehow it appears to be much slower now?!

Have you done a vacuum analyze recently?  Also, what's happening according to "top", etc - is there other stuff happening on the machine?  Are you sure it is still seeing all its RAM, etc?

I have never done a vacuum analyze before. It seems to work some faster now!! Thanks.

But what is "top"? I have restarted the database with "-B 1000". Can you check anywhere with how shared memory the databse is really allocating?

We want the database to be running on more than 16MB Ram soon. I haven't found a document on openacs to explain exactly how to do a linux kernel recompile? We have our db installed under SuSe Linux 6.3

Or am I just blind?
