Forum OpenACS Q&A: No SSL contexts for Aolserver 4? SSL not working on AS4

I'm trying to get SSL working on my Aolserver 4 instance.

I followed the directions at:
https://openacs.org/doc/openacs-HEAD/install-nsopenssl.html

Certs are installed in /var/lib/aolserver/ibr/etc/certs, according to the directions at:
https://openacs.org/doc/openacs-HEAD/install-ssl.html#ssl-certificates

Aolserver 4 is installed at /usr/local/aolserver40r2/

I'm on Debian stable, with backports of the OpenSSL from backports.org

Here's what happens when I try to boot up Aolserver:

[15/Apr/2004:12:20:05][27983.1024][-main-] Notice: modload: loading '/usr/local/aolserver40r2/bin/nsopenssl.so'
[15/Apr/2004:12:20:05][27983.1024][-main-] Notice: ibr (nsopenssl): no SSL contexts defined for this server
[15/Apr/2004:12:20:05][27983.1024][-main-] Notice: nsopenssl (ibr): no SSL drivers defined for this server

Any ideas? I really need to get this working today (as I have some important work tomorrow that I have to do from out of town).

Searching for this error message hasn't helped me much. Help?

Jade,

The docs don't look right for nsopenssl-3.0.  Check the nsd.tcl files that come with the nsopenssl-3.0 distribution at http://scottg.net/download/nsopenssl-3.0beta17.tar.gz.

Thanks for the pointer, C.R.

I've added a note about this in the docs on HEAD.

Any suggestion for what I should put in the client.key? Is that the same as the key in etc/certs/ ?

Also, should the docs be having us install the HEAD version of nsopenssl? That's a little scary.

I got it working.

Are we supporting Aolserver 3.3x in OpenACS 5.2? If not, then...

Should I change the config.tcl file in HEAD?

Hi Jade, do you mind posting how you fixed this?
I was experimenting with ssl and I also got the same error.

TIA

Hi Jeff,

I just posted the config.tcl in HEAD. So you should be able to see it via http://cvs.openacs.org
