Forum OpenACS Q&A: An ongoing schedule of bug bashes

At Heidelberg, several cities were volunteered for future bug bashes. Could the volunteers (and new volunteers) please post suggested dates and locations here? I think that if we could get more advance notice, such as a plan for bashes through the end of 2004, we could get bigger attendance. It would also be nice to see more OpenACS site admins, developers, and end users present. To host a successful bug bash, you need to provide:
  • A room with whiteboards and high-speed wired and wireless internet access.
  • Some plan for food
  • assistance with travel tips and finding lodging
Hosts generally have some influence on the priority of bugs to be tackled.

A further note: since Jan/Feb, bugs with patches attached have been prioritized before all but the most critical bugs. If you want your bug fixed, the best thing you can do is post a full reproduction case, using the provided template. (Well, the best thing you can do is ask for cvs commit rights and fix it yourself.) Patches are welcome, but repro cases are even more essential.

Well, I was not present in Heidelberg, but I wouldn't mind hosting.  We have access to meeting rooms at the Arizona State University student union building, and we can bring wireless hardware to piggyback on the wired connections they provide.  Or if I can guarantee a block of rooms at one of the local hotels, they have free wireless, and they would probably grant us meeting room space for free as well.  We are located in the Phoenix, Arizona area.  It is **really** hot here in the Valley from May through about August and sometimes September (like averaging 110 F/43 C), but the upside to that is that the hotel and airfare rates are cheap.

Geneva was proposing this month (may), but I think it's quite late now !

So we are proposing to organize the bug bash for august 27/28th or september 24/25th.

We will provide all what is required.

Hope to see you in Geneva !
