I can see a definite need at the moment for an application that enables users to keep a contacts database complete with names, addresses, post codes and contact details of various types.
I imagine that it would be best if the application:
- stuck to HR-XML standards
- integrated with the existing organizations, persons and categories data model so that logger and project manager know what is going on
- was extensible in that custom fields could be added via an admin interface
- enabled each user to have fine grained control over sharing of entries rather as in the calendar package
Jon Griffin has kindly provided contacts-lite which provides some of this functionality but there will be some work to do to incorporate the rest.
So that I don't start duplicating work does anyone know if such a project is already underway (if so what can I do to help?) and if not please let me have all ideas or tips that spring to mind.
