Forum OpenACS Q&A: Has someone done some Dutch translations?

I have an intended audience, starting age 8 and up for a project. (A
scouting community) They are not good enough at English to be able to
use the system without translation (most don't speak more than ten
words, actually).

<FunnyLanguage>Dan hoef ik misschien niet alles zelf te
doen.</FunnyLanguage>

The parts I am most interested in are login, /pvt, bboard,
calendar, events and static & general comments (in no particular
order). I will do my translations against the current 3.2.5 version,
and make them available as patches.

Does anyone have any experience with running a dual language system?
Or maybe some useful suggestions?

We have some translation into German. If this helps I could send it to you. We are using bboard, events, general comments (we messed a lot around with general comments - they look like epinion's opinions) ---- not pvt and not calendar (we are using our own pvt pages)

German translations would only help if you implemented some sort of dual/multi language scheme, if you did, I'd be very interested. Sonst ist Übersetsen kein problem 😉 Obwohl mein Deutsch nicht sehr gut ist.

There is an ACS 4 package for message catalogs which I worked on called "acs-lang". It should be easy to port to openacs 4 when
that's released, or actually it's pretty easy to back-port it, as it doesn't use any fancy acs 4 features.
