I'm fascinated by this discussion! I've been wondering when the wiki world would hit the database backed world, and how they would play. This first conversation is a good indication... I remember the first wiki site I was at; when I saw I could edit a page, I thought I'd accidentally been made an admin. I edited a period into an exclamation point, and clicked away after I saw it was changed, a bit like a little kid doing something wrong. :)
Don, I agree with you that using a wiki to add comments to a page in the openACS is nonsensical. I also think that implementing a wiki for static HTML with good history would be pretty revolutionary. My guess is that wikis as a community interaction are here to stay; we should just figure out how to implement them.
