I do think we may apply for grants; although it's most likely
that the way this will happen is that the companies and
individuals currently doing work around OpenACS would
be finding the funding opportunities and writing the proposals in conjunction with the foundation. I don't expect large charitable gifts to roll in but I do think if the foundation existed we might get some hardware donations as well as
some money to subsidize bootcamps and educational materials.
It would also be easier I think for a group like e-lane
or the dotLRN consortium to fund something like an
upgrade of openacs.org if the foundation existed (though
perhaps it would be just as easy for them to fund that
directly).
