Forum OpenACS Q&A: OpenACS/ACS development in Tokyo

Collapse

I've been talking to a couple of small internet consulting firms
here in Tokyo who are interested in developing some short term
projects in Japan using
OpenACS and/or ACS. I am going to be returning to Boston in August,
but I wanted to ask if there are any experienced ACS developers
who might be interested in doing some projects in Tokyo, or working
remotely on developing projects with Japanese developers.

If you might be interested please send me a note (mailto:hqm@ai.mit.edu).
Nothing
definite yet, but I would like to get a list of people who are
possibly willing to do something of this nature.

Thanks,
Henry

Thank you for Henry! posting about us.
I am a member of a small internet consulting firms in Tokyo.
We will set up a ACS server late in May.Server is for demonstration.
Which version is suitable ACS 3.x or ACS 4.x.
I think Education module (if possible with class room reservation )
is good for demonstration.Reservation system is good example site

First of all, I would like to know how much you have developed the project and how much you have accomplished.

Thanks.

Rolf Hanson has been working on a small contract for about six weeks, based on Openacs 3.2.5. We have my patches running to support Japanese charset, and a stripped down version of the acs-lang utilities to allow use of a message catalog to localize the application (i.e., we develop pages in English, and the client helps translate the message strings into Japanese, which are stored in the DB).

I've been doing some stuff at Keio University for some research projects with wireless data gathering and analysis(http://www.wem.sfc.keio.ac.jp) using OpenACS 3.2.5.

Otherwise, there are a couple of small companies and organizations who are working on either internal or planned community deployment of ACS based sites.
