Forum .LRN Q&A: Content sharing

Hi guys, I'm new to this stuff. I've heard of SCORM for a while, but it is just an interesting concept. I'm wondering if there is a way to make content for SCORM users and sell it. Is that done? Or is SCORM really just used within cooperative groups? Or is content generally just given away? If content is sold or shared at large, is there a repository somewhere where I can scan content to determine if I want it? Thanks, Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Sure, you can use Reload to create and put together your courses. http://www.reload.ac.uk/

No, SCORM is self-paced and very much individual centric. Think old CBTs for the web.

No. Actually a lot of companies make money selling their courses to organizations.

I'm not really aware of SCORM-only repositories, but there are a few of other http://elearning.utsa.edu/guides/LO-repositories.htm

Additionally, the fellows at CMU have come up with the infrastructure they think it is required for SCORM repositories: http://www.cs.cornell.edu/wya/scorm-nsdl/dodds1.ppt. It's some interesting stuff.

LORS is a repository that accomodate for both, SCORM and IMS packages.
