We also added a form widget for the telecom package. I can't remember if we did for the postal_addresses. Quite possibly.
We used the postal_addresses package's data model in a number of non-party places on our site. For example to map a case study (CR item) to the location its describing. I think we may have just hacked the party_id column of postal_addresses to except any object_id. In this scenario revision_id, because we wanted to be consistent with versioning in the rest of the content submission form. Can't remember exactly what we did and I'm about to turn in for the night.
