Is there a 'Privacy Statement' document that describes the general openACS/.LRN policy?

I'm thinking of a standard document that describes our privacy policy for occasional visitors, registered users, forum postings, cookies, (bulk)email, log files, links, online purchases, file storage, ...

I think there should be a link to such a "legal" document before one registers. Should there be one in our standard distribution or is there?

That is a very good idea. Something each institution could change for their own text.

I think the P3P-Compact Policy (according to http://www.w3.org/TR/P3P/ ) could be similar to
CP="IDC DSP CUR OUR BUS ONL UNI STA".
For the "remember my login" permanent cookie, however, it would be more difficult.
