Forum OpenACS Q&A: Problems logging into ACS for the first time

I am running AOLserver 3.3.1 with OpenACS 3.2.5.

The server works fine, and my public adps load up fine.

I have just installed my own server, and I am trying to log in to it... The problem is, that when I go to log in, I get taken to the new user page (user-login.tcl).

Everything is fine until this point.

I then confirm the password and enter my full name etc. and when I click on register, I am greeted with a HTTP 500 error.

If I do not enter data for one of the required fields, user- new.tcl is more than happy to tell me what I did and did not fill out.

If I hit the refresh button, I am given a, "request error" telling me that there is "missing form data".

I have tried adding the variables to the URL. The page loads, but it then tells me that the data could not be inserted.

I don't understand why this is happening.

Has anyone else encountered this problem, or am I too mentally challenged to fill out a form properly???

Did you run load-geo-tables in www/install/ ?

If you don't have logging of SQL errors turned on at your AOLserver config file, turn it on, restart AOLserver then try it again. When you get the error, look at your AOLserver log file and post the appropriate section here.

You're likely to spot the problem right away.
